Walking Libraries 02
[ images and text in progress ]
As autumn unfolds, I am revisiting certain ideas related to my past Walking Libraries 01 project.
This return is in part because I have so many archived photos of places and spaces that have been a part of this exploratory vocabulary. Remote, wild places but also urban surfaces and quiet zones that hold certain narratives. A wink also to an early project called, Urban Fiber Flotsam (2008).
This quote came to life again also when finding this featured image from Rome’s streets.
‘Walking or drifting is a soft form of mapping and plotting for me. By walking and openly witnessing, a vocabulary emerges in conjunction with observation. Future actions feel less daunting and assimilation feels empowering. No two personal libraries are alike. Each zone has intrinsic narratives to reveal, with symbolic resonance as an expression of mysterious preservation.’ – A.D.
It is this idea of ‘mysterious preservation’ that I intend to explore further, sharing related images / texts.
